Understanding Your Personality Type: Inspiring, Interactive, Energetic Influencer
You enjoy being around lots of people, especially when you are getting attention from them. People say that you are fun to be around. You love to talk, and you have a great sense of humor. Do most of these traits describe you? If so, you are an influencer. The influencer gets her name because persuasiveness is one of her strong points. She is a leader, and a very social one. Her sparkling personality and self-confidence are inspirational. And even though she loves to talk, she can be pretty good at listening. The Influencer vs. the Doer The influencer has some things in common with the doer. Both are talkative, and both enjoy being in charge. But there are also some very important differences between them. Whereas the doer is task-oriented, the influencer is more people-oriented. She is great at talking others into doing things, but when it comes to getting things done she often misses the mark. Influencers live for the here and now, and if something else that’s exciting comes along, they are inclined to drop what they’re doing to get involved with it. How Others See the Influencer The influencer possesses personality traits that make her quite popular. She is friendly, optimistic, and energetic. People are drawn to the influencer, and she likes it that way. That’s not to say that an influencer has no negative traits. An influencer’s short attention span often means that she leaves a trail of unfinished projects, and people may read that as a lack of responsibility. More task-oriented personality types are particularly put off by this, and it can be a frequent source of conflict between them and the influencer. Because an influencer loves attention, she may be seen as selfish or narcissistic. The contemplator is especially likely to feel this way, and may do everything he can to discourage the influencer’s attention-seeking talkative behavior. But influencers are not easily discouraged. Another problem that contemplators as well as others have with influencers is their tendency to speak before they think. Sensitive personality types take these outbursts to heart, while the influencer may not understand what the big deal is. If she realizes that she has said something wrong, however, the influencer tends to be quick to apologize. Making the Most of Your Personality Type Influencers use their charm and love for attention to their advantage without even thinking about it. These traits can get them far in life if they can temper their associated shortcomings. Trying to stay on task rather than jumping from one project to another is a challenge, but it is essential to your success. And thinking about how your words will affect others before you speak could help avert conflict. Influencers are the life of the party, and overall people tend to have positive opinions of them because of their ability to make everyone feel welcome, like a friend. As an influencer, you excel in situations that involve interaction with, and persuasion of, others. Finding opportunities to use those assets will give you a chance to shine.
